I experienced something profound and wonderful today. It was an act of heroism that is worthy of remark. Over the phone, talking to my best friend, I was blessed to experience honesty and transparency of the highest caliber. Wrapped up in the situation which was being explained to me was anger, concern, sadness, and tiredness-and it was SO REAL!
My friend is in the process of handling some family matters and is doing all of it while pursuing Christ’s Will in her life-as well as the in the lives of her family. After explaining and questioning and defending, she did something ridiculous: she apologized for it all! How backwards! Isn’t this authenticity supposed to be displayed in our lives at all times? Aren’t we supposed to grieve with one another and rejoice with one another as well? Doesn’t God tell us that the “sacrifices of God are a broken spirit. A broken and contrite heart.” (Psalms 51:17)
I so admire such an HONEST and BROKEN spirit! How often do we get to experience this which God requires of us? It's rare in my life of "my house is always clean" and "everything is fine" and "I'm doing great spiritually." This led me to question myself.  Am I capable of displaying this in my life? Is my heart prepared to allow God to use me in my broken moments?
Thank you, Lord, for giving me an example of WHO you want me to be.  Thank you Lord, for asking for nothing more than my honest emotions and personality You created me to have.  And thank you friend, for sharing this with me.

Hey V...

I just wanted to say I love reading your blog! It reminds me to recognize the hand of the Lord in my life. So thanks!

I also wanted to share a scripture that I think goes along with what you were talking about. The prophet Alma was teaching the people that in order to become one with God we must be willing to do certain things in this life:

...And now, as ye are desirous to come into the fold of God, and to be called his people, and are willing to bear one another's burdens, that they may be light;

Yea, and are willing to mourn with those that mourn; yea, and comfort those that stand in need of comfort, and to stand as witnesses of God at all times and in all things, and in all places that ye may be in, even until death, that ye be redeemed of God,that ye may have eternal life-

Now I say unto you, if this be the desire of your hearts, what have you against being baptized in the name of the Lord, as a witness unto him that ye have entered into a covenant with him, that ye will serve him and keep his commandments, that he may pour out his Spirit more abundantly upon you? (Mosiah 18:8-10)

I LOVE THIS! You, Vanessa, are a great example of one who is willing to mourn and comfort and stand as a witness. And the real way to display it in our lives is to make promises and covenants with God through his ordinances by the proper authority.

I'm so grateful for this! Thanks again!

And every once in a while, I need that.
So, Thank you.
