New Adventures

What a year it has been!  Wait, what?  It's only February?  Oh.

Well to say that 2012 is off to a calm, slow start would be false.  Life is good here in the midwest.  Grant and I celebrated five years of marriage last August, had a beautiful Kansas autumn, traveled to Montana where we met up with my family for Christmas, and celebrated the New Year with some of our best friends on the planet.  When January arrived, we got down to business.

You see, this Fall, we completed our application to become foster parents!  The last month has been all about cleaning out, shifting stuff around, scribbling out copious amounts of paper work, attending courses to educate ourselves about the crazy we're walking into, painting, child-proofing-we're getting ready!

We've been at work for sure, but my favorite times are the evenings we spend reading books about fostering, completing our coursework and going before the Father together to ask for grace and wisdom.  I find myself blushing and grinning like a nerd, looking at my handsome man, seeing his heart morph into that of a Daddy's.  I could go on, but I'll reserve that for it's own post.

This is where we'll share our journey and hopefully fill you in on some of the lesser known details about the fostering journey.  We're learning as we go and feel pretty inadequate, but the God we serve and follow is faithful!

Van - so proud of you guys!! That is an amazing ministry that you are aspiring to begin and I know God will bless you more than you can ever imagine. It is so amazing to see what love can do in the lives of kids who have never experienced it. And don't worry about feeling inadequate - that's called being parents. I don't know about being a foster parent, but have plenty of stories from growing up in a home with foster kids for 10+ years. Feel free to shoot me a note if you have any questions. You'll be in our prayers! ~pb

So blessed to be able to walk this road with you! I love vicarious kids, especially ones with fantastic mommas. Praying your future kid(s) is safe and protected until they find their way to you! Much love, Robyn
